You play with five dice over 13 rounds. In each round you may roll up to three times, then score exactly one category on the scorecard.
How to play

- 2Click the dice you want to keepDice you click stay put and are highlighted. Click again to release them.
- 3Click the cup againOnly the free dice are rerolled. You may repeat this twice.
- 4Score your throwClick the row on the scorecard where your throw should go. The points on offer are already shown there. That ends the round.
What to keep in mind
- Each row can be scored only once in the whole game.
- In the upper section only the dice with the matching value count. In the “Fours” row, only the fours.
- From 63 points in the upper section you get 35 bonus points.
- If no throw fits, score it in a row that is worth little to you. Skipping a round is not possible.
- The highest total after all 13 rows wins.
Benefits for your brain
Dice Poker is not pure luck. After every throw you face a decision, and that trains more than it looks like.
- Weighing things up under uncertaintyTwo fives are down, three dice are free. Keep going for fives or try the small straight? You make that kind of decision thirteen times a game.
- Thinking aheadFill all the easy rows early and you are left with the hard ones at the end. Good players keep their options open.
- Mental arithmetic at everyday paceAdding up pips, checking how far the bonus is, comparing alternatives. No worksheet needed.
- Concentration across 13 roundsA game takes 15 to 30 minutes and holds your attention without putting you under time pressure.
- Recognising patternsAfter a few games you see straight away which rows a throw can still serve.
Tips for higher scores
These four things decide whether your total ends up good.
- Keep an eye on the bonus63 points in the upper section bring another 35. That is three of each value. Score well on fives and sixes early and you get there more easily.
- Save the Chance rowAll five dice count in the “Chance” row. It rescues a throw that fits nowhere else.
- Give away the ones earlyOnes are worth five points at most. A bad throw costs you least there.
- Five of a kind is 50 pointsThe highest single score in the game. If three matching dice are already down, the try with the remaining two is worth it.
